Village Life away from the Mainstream.
Laatsch bei Mals will enchant you with its natural beauty, but will enthral you with its flawlessness. In the small village of just 600 inhabitants, you will experience Tyrolean hospitality and old world charm. Locals will greet you and strike up friendly conversation as you meander through the village. You will become acquainted with our resident cows and hens, who share our streets. Lose yourself in the local traditions of this idyllic spot by enjoying a sociable Saturday morning cappuccino or Veneziano on the bank directly in front of the Calva, or partake in the peacefulness of a Sunday church visit of sample the local flavour with a glass of white wine and the region’s finest cheese—straight from Thomas’ pasture (Elisabeth’s dad) —right in our restaurant. In the mornings you can go for a leisurely stroll to the small bakery, where you can enjoy tasty baked goods made—as always—from local grain. You can taste the well-known Paarl Brot (“pair bread”) and in the friendly village shops you can find regional culinary delights for your breakfast table or your picnic blanket, all here at your holiday home in Vinschgau.
Friendships and traditions are maintained here. Families and neighbours stick together, and invite you to share in celebrating the wonder of living during their carnival (Fasnachtsumzug) on carnival Sunday (Fasnachtssonntag) in Laatscher. Join us at the traditional October market in Laatscher or as we celebrate Santa Claus and don wicked-looking costumes during Krampusumzug to ward the evil spirits away, or join in with us at the so-called Scheibenschlagen, our custom of expelling winter bythrowing burning wooden discs. For generations, we have preserved these local cultural traditions, and we invite you to experience them right along with us!
